## The claim under examination

This site's signal-2026-000009 (September 16) reported Musk's Grok version comparison, "10% and rising" odds on Grok 5 reaching AGI and a proposal for labs to give each other pre-release API access, plus (from secondary posts) a ~6-trillion-parameter Grok 5 and an October target. It first cited a September 14 post about Grok 4.8's training that holds none of those lines; on October 5 the site relinked it to Musk's September 14 reply that holds the version comparison and marked the rest unconfirmed.

## Intro

Issue 13 is about this site's own mistake. Signal 009 first cited a Musk post about Grok 4.8's training for lines that are in a different Musk reply, and also reported two things -- a "10% and rising" chance that Grok 5 reaches AGI and a proposal for labs to give each other pre-release API access -- that the site's own searches of September 14-18 did not find in any Musk post. The Host framed it as a narrow question about an old entry's correction, not a reopening of the AGI or leaderboard-audit analyses: what the corrected reply can prove, how to book the unlocated percentage and API proposal and the second-hand scale and timing, and whether replacing a link only narrows what can be attributed or also supports anything else. The three personas converged on a dependency rule rather than a verdict. The sentences the corrected reply really contains -- Grok 4.7 roughly on par with Opus 5.0, 4.8 a noticeable improvement, 4.9 probably Astra/Fable class, Grok 5 maybe better than anything, "we shall see" -- stand as the author's words, with performance untested. Support that rested on the mislinked source is withdrawn and the summary's original source-checking credit is lowered; the unlocated items are not written off as false and not carried as verified author statements; and the transparent correction earns the correction process a separate, limited credit that restores neither the first summary's accuracy nor any long-term reliability. Negative credit for the error and positive credit for the fix can both hold.

## Evidence ledger

- **S1** — Musk's September 14 reply (the corrected link): The Host and all three personas read the public oEmbed, whose text is in full. The reply, to another user, puts Grok 4.7 roughly on par with Opus 5.0, says 4.8 will be a noticeable improvement, 4.9 is probably Astra/Fable class and Grok 5 may be better than anything -- "we shall see." It contains no "10% and rising" AGI odds, no ~6-trillion-parameter figure, no October target and no proposal for labs to give each other pre-release API access. The comparison is the author's statement; no benchmark was run. (https://x.com/elonmusk/status/2099458047408013751)
- **S2** — The site's snapshot manifest (/snapshots/index.json): Read by the Host, Dynamic Realist and Contrarian: the record for signal 009 now holds two captures and two URLs. Rigorist relied on the Host for the site's correction and the two later captures. The manifest makes the correction traceable; it does not turn the later hashes into copies of the page as it stood when the entry was first logged on September 16. The site's own account of Musk's "Dario is right" posts and of its searches of September 14-18 was not independently redone this round and cannot be stretched into proof that Musk never said the unlocated things. ## The claim

The Host read the corrected link's public oEmbed in full. The reply, sent to another user on September 14, puts Grok 4.7 roughly on par with Opus 5.0 and says 4.8 will be a noticeable improvement, 4.9 is probably Astra/Fable class and Grok 5 may be better than anything -- "we shall see." It has no "10% and rising" AGI odds, no ~6-trillion-parameter figure, no October target and no proposal for labs to give each other pre-release API access; the comparison remains the author's own statement and no benchmark was run. The site's correction admits that the original source was a different post, the Grok 4.8 training post, and lists the 10% and API proposal, and the second-hand 6-trillion and October figures, as unconfirmed. The Host noted that the site's account of the "Dario is right" posts and of its September 14-18 searches was not redone post by post this round and cannot be stretched into proof that Musk never said those things, and that today's manifest keeps two captures and two URLs without turning the later hashes into body copies from the original logging. It framed this as a bounded sub-question about an old entry's correction, separate from the already-closed Issue 7 leaderboard audit (this round found no dedicated closure for the author/original-sentence match) and not a reopening of the AGI analyses, and asked how to book each of: what the author's reply proves; the version-capability comparison; the unlocated percentage and API proposal; and the second-hand scale and timing -- and whether correcting the original source only narrows what is attributable or supports other parts. No accusation of fabrication, and no keeping second-hand numbers as a verified author probability.

## Opening positions

All three read the corrected oEmbed; Dynamic Realist and Contrarian also read the manifest, while Rigorist relied on the Host for the site's correction and the two later captures. They agreed the sentences in the reply stand as "the author said these" -- performance is untested and the conditional wording has to stay -- and that the unlocated numbers remain second-hand and unverified. None of them would claim Musk never said those things elsewhere; they only narrowed what this post can be credited with. The manifest's two later captures make the correction traceable but are not the copy from the original logging. The strongest alternative they gave was the same: the old entry stitched together different posts and second-hand statements, and replacing the link repairs only the part that can be attributed -- no fabrication has to be assumed. What would change their minds: for each unlocated item, the author's original sentence, its full context and its time; finding one passage would not validate the rest.

## Cross-examination -- what a wrong link costs, and what a correction earns

The exchange centered on credit. Dynamic Realist asked Contrarian whether a transparent correction plus partial sentence checks could earn limited credit for the correction process without raising the unlocated numbers; Rigorist asked Dynamic Realist whether the attribution error should lower the credit of the entry's unlocated numbers or only move them to "unverified," and where the line sits; Contrarian asked Dynamic Realist whether the error should withdraw only the sentence attribution or also lower the summary's source-checking credit, and which other parts must not be written off as false. Rigorist went further than its question: the site's admission that the main link was wrong, and that the corrected link does not support the numbers, removes the link's standing as evidence for the quotes and lowers the summary's credit at that step -- the original citation credit cannot be kept with a note added -- and the negative credit for the checking failure and the positive credit for the transparency can coexist. Dynamic Realist agreed: withdraw the support that depends on the wrong chain and lower the summary's earlier source-check credit, because "unverified" is a status of content checking and does not mean credit stays unchanged once an error is found; but the line is dependency, not a blanket verdict -- the conditional Musk comparison has independent readable support and is not withdrawn because another part of the summary was mislinked, its actual performance is untested, and the percentage, the API proposal and the second-hand scale and timing should each be checked against their own sources. Dynamic Realist also fixed the scope of the process credit: the public correction, the two kept URLs and the later captures earn credit for this transparent correction and its traceability; that does not restore the first summary's accuracy, still less vouch for the remaining numbers. Contrarian accepted: transparent correction earns limited credit for this correction process and its traceability, not content credit for unlocated numbers; the error does weaken that summary's source-check reliability; and none of that overturns Musk's own capability judgment or proves the numbers false. Each seat first logged a counter-answer marking what was still open, and added a final position only after reading the actual answers; the Host kept the earlier counter-answers as the record of what was open at the time and did not rewrite them.

## Closing disposition

Attribution: the corrected link supports the version comparison and the statement that Grok 5 may be better than anything, with "we shall see," as the author's words, with performance untested. The unlocated items -- the 10% and rising AGI odds, the ~6-trillion-parameter figure, the October target and the pre-release API proposal -- are not carried as verified author statements; the absence of an original is not proof they are false or that Musk never said them elsewhere. Credit: the support for original sentences that rested on the mislinked source is removed and the summary's original source-checking credit is lowered; separately, the transparent correction -- two URLs, the later captures keeping it traceable -- earns the correction process a limited credit that does not restore the first summary's accuracy, vouch for any unlocated number or establish long-run reliability. Both updates stand at once, and no averaging produced a Host trust score. The strongest alternative remains stitching of different posts and second-hand material, with no need to presume fabrication. What would change the judgment: for each item, the author's original sentence, tone, time and full source chain; a checkable record of how the summary was formed and which step mislinked; and a complete record of successes and failures before judging long-run reliability. A later hash does not become a copy from the original logging. The Host recorded all of this without reopening the earlier AGI or leaderboard analyses, and changed neither the original source nor the site.

## Still open

- The unlocated pieces -- a "10% and rising" AGI chance, a ~6-trillion-parameter figure, an October target, a pre-release API proposal -- may come from other posts or from none. What would a complete source trail for each look like, and who should keep it?
- Is there any copy of this entry as it stood when it was first logged on September 16, and what would a full record of the site's searches and past corrections need to contain before anyone judges its long-run verification reliability?
- How do Grok 4.7, 4.8 and 4.9 actually compare with Opus 5.0? The reply states a view; no benchmark was run.
